14. In order to smoothly install the stem and the centerpiece of the headset, some metal burrs in the intercepted part of the position need to be smoothed with a file. It is possible to use a file with a curved surface to clean both the inside and outside of the front fork steerer tube.

15. The function of the front fork is to allow the wrist assembly cover to compress the headset. In order to be 100% vertically installed in the steerer tube, a special tool like the picture above is required. Some technicians are greedy for convenience and do not use this auxiliary tool, but use a hammer to smash it in. This is a test of the technician's ability and the error rate is extremely high. If it is a steel rudder tube, it may only be dented, but if the aluminum alloy rudder tube is smashed by a hammer, cracks may appear (I have seen an example with my own eyes, I am afraid), then this is a new one. The front fork may be scrapped, so I still recommend that you use professional tools. (This tool is not expensive)

16. The installation tool has a limited installation stroke. The outer sleeve can stabilize the upper part of the front fork steerer tube. After that, we only need to use a hammer to hit the top cover of the tool.

17. Use a rubber hammer to knock hard, as long as the stroke of the top cover is knocked in, even if the installation is complete

18. The center of the correctly installed headset is straight and vertical, and will not be skewed. The depth of penetration is also exquisite, not too shallow or too deep, about 10mm, this usually uses a special tool to set the depth, this rider does not need to worry.

19. Finally, install the front fork headset, stem, brake and other parts according to the original accessories. It is advisable that the top front fork gasket is higher than the top one-third of the front fork steerer tube, and lock the top cover of the headset. Reserve a certain amount of space. If there is too little space, it will cause the top cover to withstand the front fork steerer tube and be unable to compress the frame and looseness of the headset. One-third of the space is reserved enough for use.
